animal life

Before choosing photography as the medium for artistic work, Jochen Lempert (Moers, Germany, 1958) dedicated himself intensely, between 1979 and 1989, to the practice of experimental film within the Schmelzdahin collective. In parallel to this activity, between 1980 and 1988, he studied biology at university. Both activities influenced his photographic work, which was immediately distinguished by his choice of subject matter: animal life.
